This month, a leak with real images of the future Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra (formerly known as Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro +) offered us a detailed approach to its design. The images revealed that it will integrate a triple camera system with huge sensors and high-end optical zoom. Now, it has been revealed that the Mi 11 Ultra will debut the new Samsung ISOCELL GN2 50 megapixel sensor.
Xiaomi will debut Samsung’s ISOCELL GN2 with the Mi 11 Ultra
The aforementioned ISOCELL GN2 sensor from Samsung was introduced today as the largest ever produced for mobile phones with a huge size of 1 / 1.12 inch. This explains the large protrusion of your photo module. In addition, it has Giant native pixels with a size of 1.4um. Thanks to pixel fusion (4 in 1) you can offer images with 2.4um equivalent pixels.
Then, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, the next most premium offering in the Chinese giant’s catalog, will boast of the powerful capabilities of Samsung’s new lens. This also indicates that the rumored Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro, which will be one step below this model, would have a different main camera sensor.

It is possible that the Mi 11 Pro will keep the 108MP camera of the standard Mi 11, but adding other features like optical zoom (absent in the original Mi 11). At the moment it has not been revealed how the design of the aforementioned Mi 11 Pro will be.
Last year, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra was presented with an impressive set of specifications and a powerful photographic section. Unfortunately, this model (together with the Redmi K30 Ultra) remained as a exclusively for the Chinese market. However, recent reports suggest that this case will not be repeated with the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. This last device would be offered in all world markets where the brand has a presence.
The constant collaboration of Xiaomi and Samsung
Xiaomi and Samsung already have a long history of collaborations which has forged a good business relationship between both companies when it comes to launching new camera sensors. In January 2019, the Redmi Note 7 became the first phone with a 48MP main sensor, thanks to the Samsung GM1 lens.
Then the Redmi Note 8 Pro was the first phone in the world with the Samsung GW1 64MP sensor. Later, the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro (aka Mi Note 10) arrived as the first on the market with a 108MP ISOCELL HMX sensor.
