MIUI 12 has been with us for a few months even though some Xiaomi devices have not received it yet, and among all the news it has, we think that it lacks a few other features that should be added in MIUI 13 yes or yes.
Either because other brands like Samsung with DeX or Huawei if they have implemented them or rarely seen on other devices. In this article we will name the 3 features that we think should be implemented when they present MIUI 13 next year.
Desktop mode in MIUI 13
To begin with, we will talk about one of those features that should be in MIUI 13 and that some manufacturers have already implemented, such as desktop mode on your Android operating system. For those who do not know what we are talking about, try as the name itself indicates, stop a desktop as if it were a PC operating system, but in our MIUI.
In question, desktop mode consists of connect your Android mobile phone with a USB-C to HDMI cable or wirelessly to an external display. You would automatically see the contents of your phone in a format similar to Windows, with its desktop, icons and windows.
Even though as of Android 10 desktop mode was implemented formally experimental, it is only accessible from the developer settings. Since it is a very early version that does not work stably and that does not have much customization and functionalities.
Luckily, Xiaomi has already developed its own semi-desktop mode for MIUI, so it would not be surprising if they are also developing a full desktop mode. So maybe, and seeing that other brands have already implemented it, let’s see it debut for MIUI 13.
Features in Xiaomi with curved screen
Now, since we talked before about a feature that Samsung implemented, this time we have to deal with the issue of curved screens in MIUI 13. As we well know, curved Samsung devices have a functionality which we think should be added.
That same gives a more than aesthetic sense to mobiles with that curvature popularly called “edge”, since you can navigate through applications, and even up to view messages and notifications. And since Xiaomi is increasingly targeting the curved screens fashion or edge, that unless they take advantage of one way or another in MIUI 13 with that feature.
Further, gestures could even be added as Huawei did on one of your mobile phones, in which sliding up or down On the curve, you controlled the volume level. This type of functionality is useful, especially if you are looking for extend the life of physical buttons, just like double tap to turn on screen.
Widevine L1 on all Xiaomi devices
Or what is the same, be able to view content in HD or higher in MIUI 13, in apps that have protected content, such as Netflix, Prime Video, HBO, Disney+, etc. In detail, this characteristic is a necessary certification to be able to reproduce the content of all those streaming platforms in high resolution, and that unfortunately, not all Xiaomi have it.
Previously, no Xiaomi device boasts Widevine at its L1 level, not even its high-end or flagships like the Xiaomi Mi 8, to give you the most recent example. Already in those years, with the “boom” of the mythical POCOPHONE F1, which had Widevine L3, which was not enough to be able to reproduce HD content, users claimed it, then Xiaomi put the batteries, and although it took, in the end ended up adding the Widevine L1 certification via OTA.
From that moment, more and more devices included such certification, even in the Xiaomi mid-range, although unfortunately, at least on Netflix, it was not enough. Since in particular, this streaming platform has its own separate certification, and manufacturers have to agree with them.
The list of Xiaomi devices that support Netflix in HD, which in turn also support HDR10, is as follows:
- Xiaomi Mi 9T
- Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro
- Xiaomi Mi 10
- Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G
- Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
- Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite
- Xiaomi Redmi K20
- Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro
MIUI 13 needs to innovate with more features
In short, we, who make up this website, believe that these should be some of the features and functionalities that they would have to implement in MIUI 13. Given that, at a technological and resource level, Xiaomi has the necessary tools to take MIUI to the next level, so we will be waiting to see how they will surprise us.
