NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WVLT) — A Nashville musician was shot dead after a robbery outside his home on Thursday afternoon. Five minors were charged in this case.

CBS-affiliated Nashville Metro Police officials, WTVF, said a roommate had found Kyle Yorlets, 24, around 3 pm. Investigators said that they thought his wallet had been stolen and then shot after refusing to hand over the keys to his vehicle.

The death of Yorlets was pronounced at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The 24-year-old was originally from Pennsylvania and had studied at Belmont University. He was a member of a local group, Carverton. The director of the group said in a statement: "He was loved by his friends and family."

The group released the following statement on its Facebook page:

"On February 7, 2019, we lost our brother, our best friend and member of our group, Kyle Yorlets, we are in a state of shock and must grasp the reality that is now before us. his family and loved ones and all the lives he has touched.We will never forget Kyle, and although he left too early, his legacy is here to stay. "

The band released a new single in January and planned to release a new album at the end of March. We did not know if or when this album would be published.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help his family.

A memorial service for Kyle was scheduled for Monday, February 11 at 3:30 pm. in the chapel of Belmont University.
