Investigators are trying to identify a man who is in critical condition after being run over in a Paisley street.
Officers believe he also suffered injuries before being shot in the city’s George Street in the early hours of yesterday morning.

He was walking with another man when he fell or lay on the roadway near Barr Place around 12.45 and was hit by a VW Golf.
The injured man is described as white and wore a blue and white striped t-shirt, a black hooded top, blue jogging pants and white socks.

It was with a man, described in that moment only in gray clothes, who left the scene before the arrival of the police.
Inspector Ian Ross, Paisley CID, said: “It would appear that the man had walked along George Street with another man when he was lying or falling on the road.
“It was at this time that he was hit by the VW Golf.
“During treatment for injuries sustained after being run over, medical staff noted that he also had injuries that may have been sustained before being run over.
“At the moment, due to his conditions, we have not been able to speak to him and therefore we have not been able to establish what happened or really, who he is.

“The agents are investigating the area and are checking the CCTV to try to find out where he and the man he was with were at the top of the fact that he was injured.
“We have to find out who the man is, so we can let any family know where he is and who is very ill.
