Ali Smith’s novel “Winter”: Writing in real-time mode

At the end of the book, Arthur asks what distinguishes art from politics Winter from Ali Smith his mother Sophia and his aunt Iris. The latter e-mails him “that the HUMAN in art always comes to the fore, no matter how it is politically oriented”. In fact, in the Scottish novel (58), human and political issues are artfully balanced.
