Detectives investigating the murder of 39-year-old mother Aliny Mendes have more time to question a suspect.

A Surrey police statement states: "A man in his forties from Epsom remains in police custody after Detectives from Guildford County Court have been given more time to investigate the arrest on Friday."
Earlier, another man in his fifties from London was arrested on suspicion of supporting a criminal, but was released without any further action being taken against him.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Chapman added, "We are working incredibly hard to pull things together during this shocking incident and are doing everything we can to support Aliny's family."

Ms. Aliny was described on this page as "dear friend, colleague and mother of four revered children."

Ms. Mendes was stabbed only a few feet from Meadow Primary School.
London Road and the adjacent Sparrow Farm Road were closed off after police investigation.
