Ander Herrera says it was a pleasure to play alongside Paul Pogba at Manchester United and prompted him to stay at Old Trafford.
Herrera left United at the end of the contract at the end of 2019 and put the pen on paper with Paris Saint-Germain.
He has maintained a strong bond with the club and believes that Man United is about to turn a corner under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Pogba has been linked with a departure from United in recent seasons, with Real Madrid and Juventus among the clubs eager to sign it.
But Herrera insists that the World Cup winner has a future at Old Trafford, despite his ups and downs, and believes he can establish an excellent relationship on the field with Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.
Herrera told ESPN: “I haven’t talked to him for a long time and I don’t know what he wants to do. It is true that every day in the newspapers we can read that he wants to leave, or Manchester United is going to sell him, but I don’t really know what he wants to do. .
“He can be the best midfielder in the world. In terms of quality, he has everything. I have never seen a midfielder who has all the qualities he can have.
“He can recover many balls, he can direct the ball, he can score goals, he can defend, he can attack, he is so strong and tall.
“It is true that since he came to the club he has had ups and downs, but when he was good, he was really good. Incredible. It was a pleasure to play with him.
“I think all Manchester United fans want to see the best of Pogba. This can happen and, with Bruno Fernandes, I think Manchester United can do great things.
“Liverpool and Manchester City are also doing great things. It’s not easy, but with Paul, Bruno and Marcus [Rashford] they can.”
