Apple begins shipping first iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro pre-orders ahead of Friday’s launch

The first pre-orders of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro began shipping to the first buyers. As usual, this doesn’t mean you should wait for your iPhone 12 order to arrive before the October 23 release date.

If you check the status of your order through Apple’s website, you will probably see that your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro is still “getting ready to ship”. However, if you go to the UPS website, you can follow the progress of your order in a few simple steps.

To do so, enroll in the UPS My Choice platform or use the “Tracking by reference number “ characteristic. The reference number is likely to be the phone number on your Apple order or your order number without the last two digits. However, not all iPhones have been transferred to UPS yet, so be sure to keep checking throughout the week.

As usual, Apple doesn’t update the shipping status for new iPhone orders through its website until later in the week, when we’re closer to the official launch date. Finally, keep in mind that just because orders are already shipped doesn’t mean that you should expect your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro to arrive sooner. Apple works closely with UPS to ensure shipments do not arrive before Friday, October 23, regardless of what the estimated date displayed on UPS indicates.

On the other hand, as we detailed yesterday, the first iPhone 12 accessories have begun to reach customers. This includes the MagSafe cases and the MagSafe charger itself. You can take a closer look at the new accessories in our full coverage here.
