Fruit of a collaboration between Beats and the Japanese fashion brand AmbushApple announced this week the launch of a special edition of its Powerbeats sports headphones with a glow-in-the-dark design.
Yoon Ahn, co-founder and creative director of Ambush, revealed that she was inspired by the nightlife of Such to develop the concept of headphones. “I live in the middle of Shibuya and I am always inspired by how the city shines at night,” he noted.
“I thought it would be cool to design a product that could capture the same energy of the city when you’re out late at night listening to music,” added Yoon Ahn. In this way, they become the first luminous hearing aids of Beats.
When they’re in the dark, the new Powerbeats Ambush Glow glow bright green. During the day, they look a mint green color. Each earbud is stamped with the Ambush branding next to the Beats logo.
Inside, the hearing aids are equipped with the chip H1 from Apple, which offers hands-free access via Siri voice commands, efficient pairing, and the ability to switch between iCloud-connected devices quickly.
They also have IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance, a battery that promises a range of up to 15 hours, the Fast Fuel function (5-minute charge provides 1 hour of playback) and integrated physical buttons to control music, phone calls and voice commands.
