Baklava, a traditional dessert from Turkey and the Middle East

I am David García, better known on the networks as @Always_hungry. I post both in Instagram like in TikTok, and now also in Youtube, the dishes that I usually make at home. Every Tuesday I will share a video recipes to travel without leaving our kitchen. Exotic dishes to explore from the ‘warungs’ -small family restaurants- of Indonesia to the best-known hamburgers in New York.

Today is a sweet recipe. We traveled to Turkey and the Middle East with a traditional recipe based on filo dough, nuts, syrup and a generous amount of butter; almost nothing. It is forceful, yes. That is why it is always served in small portions. In addition, it is easy to prepare and with ingredients that we can find in any supermarket.

  • 12 sheets of filo dough
  • 200g of peeled walnuts
  • 60g almonds
  • 50g pistachios
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 230g butter
  • Syrup: 220g of sugar
  • 50g of honey
  • 180g of water
  • a teaspoon of orange blossom water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
