Barcelona coach Lluis Cortes has extended his contract until 2022 with the option for an additional year after leading the club into the Champions League final on Sunday.
The news is not a surprise but it is good news for the club. Cortes has not only taken Barça’s side to the top of the game, but has been able to get the best out of every one of his players.
If you ask them, there’s not a single complaint about the coach. That’s difficult to achieve, especially with such a big squad. Cortes is not just a really good coach, but he’s also a brilliant manager of groups.
On the pitch, Barça have got better and better since he took charge in 2019. He has led them to two Champions League finals (the second later this month vs. Chelsea), one league title, one Copa de la Reina, one Spanish Supercopa and a Copa Catalunya.
It’s all been done true to the Barcelona philosophy and there’s a real chance of a treble this season. Barça have won 25 of 25 games in the league.
In short, it’s a deserved renewal for Lluis Cortes.
