Barcelona made a late investigation for Christian Eriksen, but still seems ready to join Inter.
The 27-year-old Tottenham midfielder Eriksen had decided to move to Spain last summer and was excited to switch to Barcelona or Real Madrid, but neither of them had approached firmly.
However, the Spanish giants have followed developments and Barcelona have now made a late move, but Inter remains confident that they will agree on a deal with Spurs this month.
Barcelona would now prefer to sign Eriksen with a pre-contract and get it for free in the summer and now it remains to be seen if they can do anything.
Eriksen is free to speak with foreign clubs because he is out of contract during the summer and Barcelona has kicked off its representatives.
But Inter remains in pole position because Eriksen is willing to pay £ 160,000 a week with a four and a half year contract plus added bonuses.
The spurs hold on for £ 18 million and have been frustrated by Inter that they have made a deal and their offer of £ 11 million plus add-ons has been short but talks are ongoing.
However, it is clear that Eriksen decided to move in January and that is why Inter remains super confident of doing so.
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho launched a stinging rebuke this month about Inter and their boss Antonio Conte, accusing them of publicly speaking that upset Eriksen.
Mourinho was also frustrated that Inter still had to make an acceptable offer and Spurs believes it is time for them to put up or shut up.
Tottenham risks losing Eriksen for nothing in the summer, but is determined not to be bullied in a sale and Inter’s tactics are unlikely to help the situation.
