DANNY Macdonald and Tony Mason had to settle for second place in the Cumbria County Snooker Championship this year.

The Barrow pair played their first two games of the competition at Carlisle's Portland Snooker Center without losing a frame, winning 4-0 on both occasions.

Then, in the semifinals, they eliminated defending champions Kevin Basnett of Workington and Andrew Mitchelhill of Cockermouth 4-1, which allowed Macdonald to take a 50% break.

In the final, Macdonald and Mason clashed against Mike Griffiths and Rob Barbour, Carlisle duo, who won the first frame 75-22.

Macdonald and Mason had a 52-29 win, while Griffin and Barbour took the lead in a third-place dominated by safety.

Barbour's 33-point breakaway allowed Carlisle to take fourth place, but Macdonald and Mason fought for fifth place, despite the fact that Carlisle's tip broke and she had to borrow a bit. tail.

However, Griffiths went from green to pink to seal a 4-2 victory.

The County Snooker Singles Championship will be held on Sunday, March 24 at the Portland Snooker Club, in Carlisle.
