Better broken windows than broken promises. And with that slogan, climate change activists smashed windows at the London headquarters of Barclays Bank. It is the latest protest aimed at highlighting the role of the financial sector in driving what they call the climate catastrophe. The seven activists of the Extinction Rebellion group used hammers and chisels to break the windows and affixed the message “in case of a weather emergency, break the glass.” The group that was arrested acted in this direct way to prevent and draw attention to damage biggest and worst devastation scenarios described by scientists studying climate change.
