HOUSTON – President Joe Biden will travel to Houston this Friday for his first visit to Texas, following last week’s winter storm.
This was announced by the White House in a public communication, which revealed that the president will be accompanied by the first lady, Jill Biden.
Last week the president said he planned to visit the state in the middle of this week, but the fact that state and local authorities were focused on relief efforts and not wanting to become an additional burden had caused him to postpone the idea for a few days.
The winter storm that hit Texas last week left millions without electricity service and many others with water cuts and limitations to consume the liquid, in addition to the damage caused to properties mainly caused by the rupture of pipes due to at freezing temperatures.
The Biden administration has already the declaration of disaster in 107 of the state’s 254 counties.
Currently, more than $ 1.5 million in aid has already been allocated through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
