Break of the main water pipe closes a road in the castle of Corfe

A road in Purbeck is closed due to a break in the main water main.

The B3351 is closed in both directions between Thrashers Lane and the A351 at Corfe Castle.

Emergency repairs must take place this afternoon.

A spokesman for Wessex Water said: "We are repairing a broken main pipe near the railway bridge on B3351 at Corfe Castle.

"The road was closed around 2:45 pm this afternoon and is not expected to reopen late tonight." Customers' water supply sources do not appear to have been affected by the bursting of the break.

"We are sorry for the inconvenience to residents and road users."
