Bad Honnef – Some ebay sellers are amazed: thanks to Brexit, they suddenly pay high transaction fees at their bank or savings bank. The online marketplace continues to collect fees for sales from the UK. And that now usually means extra fees.
But not only Ebay users are affected. Anyone who processes payment transactions with Great Britain through their bank in Germany should clarify whether and which fees apply.
Because: Since the UK left the EU internal market and the customs union, the UK has been a SEPA third country for payments.
The Kreissparkasse Köln will inform you on request: “Direct debit payments in these countries are priced for amounts under 50,000 euros at 13 euros, credits at 5 euros.”
The KSK is currently addressing its customers who have increased payment flows from or to Great Britain in order to draw attention to this change and to find individual solutions.
ebay dealers the Kreissparkasse Köln recommends:
“Payments by credit card in euros to Great Britain are still free of charge at Kreissparkasse Köln. For ebay users, the recommendation is to open the payment method in the respective ebay account “Payment with credit card” to move. At least until eBay has adapted its payment flows to the changed EU internal market. “
