Campaign to donate blood and help covid-19 patients begins

The North Texas Red Cross will have a blood drive this month and they hope to have the participation of people who have recovered from covid-19. The nonprofit organization kicked off this initiative with the NFL for National Blood Donation Month.

Those who donate blood between January 1 and 20 will be entered into a drawing to win two tickets to Super Bowl LVI 2022 in Los Angeles, according to a statement from The Red Cross.

The Red Cross will have a meeting this Wednesday, January 12 in Fort Worth and at the North Texas Red Cross headquarters at 2055 Kendall Dr., but there will also be blood donations on other days and locations.

You just have to enter your zip code on the website of the American Red Cross and the closest donation sites will appear.

According to a statement, these donations will help combat the need for blood and the shortage of convalescent plasma. Also, plasma from blood donations that test positive for coronavirus antibodies can help patients with covid-19.

It is necessary to make an appointment to donate blood and can be done through this link or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
