Celtic reportedly wants to hire David Webb, who is very close to Eddie Howe

Celtic are in the market for a new football director, and a very interesting name has emerged as a primary goal.

The Daily Mail reports that Celtic is looking to David Webb from Huddersfield Town, to come and work alongside Nick Hammond and Gary Penrice.

Webb previously held key recruiting positions at Ostersund and Tottenham Hotspur, although a link to his time at Bournemouth seems more interesting here.

Webb worked closely with Eddie Howe at Bournemouth, helping bring key signings to the club, such as forward Callum Wilson.

Why is it so interesting in Celtic terms? Well, Howe himself has been linked to a switch to Parkhead, with The Sun claiming Celtic’s interest.

Neil Lennon is likely to leave Celtic this summer, leaving the Bhoys in the market for a new coach after a disastrous season.

The opportunity to reunite Howe with Webb could be very attractive to Celtic, and it could even be a clever selling point for the Bhoys to land both men on a double hit.

That may not be in Celtic’s plans at the moment while Lennon is still in the job, but if they have hopes of landing Howe, then securing Webb would surely increase their chances of luring Howe to Glasgow.
