Chelsea? Man Utd? Spurs? Jose Mourinho names the favorites for the top four

Jose Mourinho believes that Chelsea are the favorite to finish in the top four, despite their struggles in 2020.

Mourinho, who had two spells as a Chelsea manager, reports his Tottenham Hotspur to Stamford Bridge on Saturday for a lunchtime showdown between the four best four rivals.

Only one point separates the two teams before the kick-off, with Sheffield United and Manchester United also at a considerable distance from Frank Lampard’s team.

Wolves, Everton and Arsenal mathematically remain in the hunt for around seven points behind Chelsea, whose grip on fourth and final place in the Champions League has loosened in the past few weeks, particularly after their defeat against Manchester United on Monday night.

While fifth place should be enough to guarantee Champions League football – after Manchester City, runner-up, has been kicked out of the competition for two years – nobody will want to risk it, with fourth place guaranteeing a place among the European elites.

And in view of the close parenthesis between Spurs and Chelsea, Mourinho has built up pressure on his former employers by suggesting that they are in the driver’s seat to finish fourth.

“Right now, Tottenham, Manchester United, Arsenal, Sheffield United, Wolverhampton, Everton – we are the losers,” he said.

‘We have the ambition to be there, but we are one, two, three points behind Chelsea, so they have an advantage for all of us. This is obvious. It’s not a big advantage but it’s an advantage.

“Chelsea are currently the favorite for fourth place, considering that Leicester has nine more points at this stage of the season.”
