Cheryl was left in tears over a heartbreaking routine in the first episode of the new series of The Greatest Dancer.
Last year’s series was won by 14-year-old Scottish contemporary dancer Ellie Ferguson, who beat the competition from the Latin formation group KLA, the contemporary couple Harry and Eleiyah and the dynamic duo James And Oliver in the final.
For Series 2, the original dance captains Cheryl, Oti Mabuse and Matthew Morrison are joined by newcomer Todrick Hall and Cheryl stunned her colleagues by breaking down while watching an audition for Lily, 10 years old and Joseph, eight years old.
The young couple used their dance to tell the story of their friendship with the Andra Day’s Rise Up soundtrack. Oti was visibly suffocated by their performance, but Cheryl was so moved that she had to move away from the camera while trying to regain calm.
Giving his critique, he said “You are amazing, you should be very, very proud of yourself.”
Before their audition, Joseph’s mom Natasha said: ‘They have a little magic when they dance.
‘The emotion they feel when they dance makes me shiver down my spine to watch them. It’s just the best feeling in the world. “
