Merseyside gets into the festive mood and a good way to celebrate the start of the season of goodwill is to take part in a Christmas lights.
There's a lot going on all over the area, and many of the events offer you, your family and your friends even more attractions.
Some events offer fairs, an opportunity to meet Santa, grottos, live music and more.
Some planned events also offer food and drinks.
Here are some of the Christmas lightswitch events that take place all over Merseyside …
Woolton Village Santa Claus event.
For the past 22 years, the Woolton Village Residents Association has been financing and organizing a Santa Claus tour of the village with its sleigh every November.
It has the giant Christmas tree with LED flashing lights – and they remain until the new year – and the children Grotto and Lodes Pond Allerton Road.
Turning on the main Christmas tree lights and the Lodes Pond.
When: Wednesday, November 30, 2019, 4:15 pm.

Turning on the Christmas lights in Huyton Village coincides with the first Huyton live event in November.
There is also a fireworks display for the finale.
The fun starts at 12 noon and there is food, drink, live music and a reindeer visit.
Live entertainment is provided from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm – and the Christmas lights turn on at 6:30 pm.

From where: Huyton Village
On Thursday, November 21, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, a Christmas lighting event will take place in the city center of Kirkby.
It will be held in the Newtown Gardens.
There will be music and festive fun, with performances by Andy Bennett of Ocean Color Scene and an entertainment program, including Ben of Phats and Small, Katy Ashworth of Cbeebies and Jack Walton, finalist of X-Factor 2014.
A spectacular fireworks with the end of the evening.
When: Thursday, November 21st from 4pm to 7pm

At Christmas, you can bring your family to the New Hutte Neighborhood Center in Halewood.
There you can watch the Christmas lights, visit Santa's grotto and receive a gift.
You can even create a letter for Santa and much more.
There will be make-up, a raffle and arts and crafts activities.
The event will take place on Friday, December 6, between 3:30 pm and 6:00 pm – the light will be switched on at 5:45 pm.
This year, Halewood City Council and partners from Hurricane Productions will present Jack & The Beanstalk with tickets for £ 2 per child, which will include a selection box and a visit from Santa Claus.
Accompanying adults are free and tickets are available at the Hollies and Arncliffe Centers.
When: The event will take place on Friday, December 6, between 3:30 pm and 6:00 pm – the lights will be switched on at 5:45 pm.

The Willowbrook Hospice will hold two services, "Light Up A Life," to mark the lights on the Christmas trees turning on.
The services will take place on December 9 at 7pm at Prescot Parish Church and at 7pm on December 11 at St Marys Lowe House Church.

Cronton Tree Lighting and Ecumenical Carol Service will be held on Tuesday, December 17.
The tree lighting will take place at 19 o'clock in the coronation gardens.
Then, at 7.30 pm, the Holy Family Church will be held in Hall Lane and a reception at the Holy Family Social Club will be held at 8 pm.

The Crosby Christmas Lights Switch On will start at 3pm. The lights will be switched on at 6 pm by the mayor of Sefton, Cllr June Burns.
The two Labor Party candidates, MP Bill Esterson and Bootle MP Peter Dowd, are expected.
There will be a fun fair for the children.
The Christmas tree lighting will be switched on at 18 o'clock.
The tree was planted in the Lady Diana Bed and Gardens, so it will not stand in the usual place.

From where: Crosby Village
There are Christmas carols, choirs, a visit from Santa by courtesy of the Rotary Club Crosby, a Christmas horse by Shy Lowen and more.
Celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season.
When: Friday, November 22nd – Thornton's Christmas lights turn on at 6:00 pm, lights turn on at 6:45 pm
From where: On the Village Green opposite the Nags Head Pub
Switching on the Christmas lights in Bootle is done by the Bootle Action Group.
The lights will be on by the Mayor of Sefton, Councilor June Burns.
There will be free make-up, raffle, games, free refreshments, live music from "Singing Our Socks Off" and local singer George Gallagher.
The entertainment starts at 2:00 pm and the lights come on at 5:00 pm.
There will be a donation box for the food delivery, which is located next to the competition table. Or you can pass it on to any steward in orange jackets.
When: Saturday, November 23rd – the fun starts at 2pm with the lights turning on at 5pm
From where: Bootle Library, 220 Stanley Road, Bootle, L20 3EN
Formby will see again this year Frosty the Snowman, who will be in Formby Pool.
From 14 o'clock there are Christmas market stalls, rides for children and entertainment.
All the fun will culminate in turning on the lights at 5pm.
The event is free as always.
When: Sunday, November 24 at 5 pm – the lights will be switched on at 5 pm, but the event will start at 2 pm and the festivities will last until 7:30 pm.
From where: Formby
The fun starts at 6 pm and the Christmas lights turn on at 6:45 pm.
The event was organized by the local council and there will be Christmas carols and community prizes in the pub.
When: Monday, November 27 from 6 to 8 pm

Kirkstone Road North Park
The L21 Community Network is hosting Christmas lights on Wednesday, November 27th.
There will be choirs, make-up and refreshments.
There will be special guests and much more.
When: Wednesday, November 27, from 3:30 to 5:00 pm.
From where: Kirkstone Road North Park, Litherland
The festivities begin when Santa Claus turns up at 12.00 in the parking lot on the sled.
From 12:00 to 16:00, the Feelgood Factory hosts a charity celebration.
Marion Square has a community market from 16.00 to 21.00.
From 12.00 to 18.30 there is a Christmas and Santa Claus.
Entertainments take place from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
At 18 o'clock the Christmas tree lights are switched on.
When: Wednesday, November 27th at 6pm – but the fun starts at 12pm
From where: Netherton, Marienplatz
The village Christmas lights will be on Wednesday, November 27 at 18.30 clock turned on.
There are mulled wine, mince pies and Christmas carols of the Salvation Army.

South Park in Bootle
This event is hosted by Friends of South Park Bootle.
The light switch is at 17 o'clock.

Seaforth Christmas Fair and Christmas Lights Switch at Bowersdale Park, Seaforth
This event is presented by the Friends of Bowersdale Park.
It is danced by Connect Studios and sung by schoolchildren.
There will be stalls, food and entertainment.
When: Saturday, November 30 at 5pm – but the fun starts at 12:30

The Aintree Village Community is organizing its Christmas tree change on Saturday, November 30, from 5:00 pm.
It takes place in the Valentine Pub.
Santa's Grotto tickets can now be purchased for £ 3 per child at the Valentine Pub.

The Southport Christmas Parade
The Southport Charity Christmas Parade will be held for the fifth time on Sunday, December 1st.
A vehicle parade with cars, vans, trucks and floats leaves Pontins Ainsdale at 4pm.
Good vantage points include the Victoria Pub, the Southport Promenade or the Lakeside Inn.
