Coast Guard and Border Force patrols dealing with "incidents" in the English Channel

Seven migrants were rescued in the early morning by a boat in the English Channel.

Border Force and HM Coastguard responded to the incident at 2:30.

There were reportedly about seven people in the boat.

A spokesman for HM Coastguard said, "HM Coastguard is currently supporting the Border Force in an incident on the Dover Canal."

Locals said they heard a helicopter over them during the incident.

The condition of the people aboard the ship is unknown.

The Home Office was contacted for comment.
