With nearly 48,000 COVID-19 cases in the UK, the government has tightened up its instructions for all citizens to stay home in addition to essential travel or work.
To help with the delivery of the message, which is not generating the compliance required by the public, Codemasters is taking action.
UK players driving on DiRT Rally 2.0 will now see street side banners with the important Public Health England message: “Stay Home Save Lives”.
“In Codemasters, we have come to realize that the technology within our games, which allows remote updating of banners within the virtual environment, could be re-proposed to help the Coronavirus communication effort”, said vice president of business development Toby Evan-Jones. “This week, thanks to collaboration with Bidstack Group PLC (ad replacement infrastructure providers), we started delivering a version of the Public Health England” Stay Home Save Lives “message in DiRT Rally 2.0.
“It’s great to see conversations already going on in our community.”

Codemasters hopes to expand this message beyond the UK to help coronavirus prevention efforts around the world. Last month, Codemasters released DiRT Rally 2.0 Game of the Year Edition, which includes 81 rally and rallycross cars and 26 locations.
Features officially licensed content from the World Rallycross Championship, as well as bonus content focusing on rally legend Colin McRae. The bonus content features 40 scenarios of varying difficulty at various stages of McRae’s career from the 1980s to the 2000s.
