There have been three more coronvirus cases registered across Gloucestershire in the past 24 hours, according to data released today by Public Health England (July 4).
Nationally, the death toll stands at 44,198 and there are now 284,900 laboratory confirmed patients.
This represents an increase of 67 and 624 respectively over the same time period.
In Gloucestershire, the total number of cases is now 1,823 – an increase of three on Friday (July 3).
There have been 227 Coronavirus-related deaths in Gloucestershire hospitals with Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust which records 34 deaths and Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which records 193 deaths.
The county case breakdown is as follows:
Cheltenham – 423 (increase of two)
Cotswolds – 199
Forest of Dean – 160
Gloucester – 534 (one increase)
Stroud – 257
Tewkesbury – 250
Today, the Prime Minister’s father, Stanley Johnson, defended his decision to travel to Greece and publish social media posts on the matter.
He said, “I didn’t put them on … in a spirit of defiance, or something.”
Referring to his residence in Greece, Mr. Johnson told reporters: “I came here to have a quiet moment, to organize the house.
“I think I’ll be back on July 10th. So, I only have one week to organize everything. I have a lot of instructions on how to make Covid proof.”
