An American study that predicted that Ireland was already experiencing the worst Covid-19 pandemic is “unreliable,” said the chief Irish medical officer.
A report from the University of Washington yesterday estimated that the peak of the epidemic in Ireland occurred on Monday and has now passed. He said there would be around 400 deaths in Ireland in early August, compared to over 66,000 in the UK.
To dr. Tony Holohan was asked about the research during the daily coronavirus briefing last night, in which 345 new cases were confirmed along with 36 deaths, and claimed that the American study is unreliable.
“It’s just not true. It’s not something people should listen to or rely on,”
