The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, highlighted that according to today’s COVID-19 report, “the variation in new confirmed cases at the national level decreases 7% for the last seven days and 9% for the last 14 days.” Likewise, 13 regions decreased their new cases in the last seven days and 12 in the last 14 days.
The regions with the highest increase in new confirmed cases are Biobío, Los Lagos, Aysén and Tarapacá, while Magallanes, although it presents a decrease in the incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, continues to be the highest in the country.
In addition, the health authority reported that: “1,689 new cases are reported, of which 24% originate from active case search (BAC) and 31% of those notified are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it presents 14% due to BAC and 26% of the notified cases are asymptomatic ”.
According to today’s report, Friday, October 16, 2020, the Ministry of Health adds that of the 1,689 new cases of COVID-19, 1,141 correspond to symptomatic people and 510 do not present symptoms. In addition, 38 Positive PCR tests were recorded that were not reported.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the country reaches 488,190. Of this total, 13,564 patients are in the active stage. The recovered cases are 461,097.
Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours there were 95 deaths from causes associated with COVID-19. The total number of deceased amounts to 13,529 in the country.
To date, 794 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 625 are on mechanical ventilation support and 101 are in critical health. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 349 ventilators available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 31,088 PCR tests were reported, reaching a total of 3,821,206 tests analyzed nationwide to date.
