The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, highlighted that according to today’s COVID-19 report, “eight regions decrease their new cases in the last seven days and 11 in the last 14 days.”
The health authority also highlighted that “the positivity for the last 24 hours at the national level is 4% and in the Metropolitan Region, 2%.”
Likewise, Paris said that the Magallanes region continues to show a significant decrease in the incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, but it continues to be the highest in the country. The regions with the highest increase in new confirmed cases are Atacama, Coquimbo, Ñuble, and Metropolitana. “We call on the people of these regions to maintain self-care measures that continue to be the most effective, use of a mask, wash hands with soap and water, maintain physical distance, among others.”
In addition, the health minister reported that: “1,573 new cases are reported, of which 27% originate from active case search (BAC) and 31% of those notified are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it presents 21% by BAC and 29% of the reported cases are asymptomatic.
According to today’s report, Friday, November 20, 2020, the Ministry of Health adds that of the 1,573 new cases of COVID-19, 1,071 correspond to symptomatic people and 479 do not present symptoms. In addition, 23 Positive PCR tests were recorded that were not reported.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the country reaches 537,585. Of this total, 9,351 patients are in the active stage. The recovered cases are 512,927.
Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours there were 48 deaths from causes associated with COVID-19. The total number of deceased amounts to 15,003 in the country.
To date, 717 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 555 are on mechanical ventilation support and 76 are in critical health. Regarding the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 289 ventilators available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 39,230 PCR tests were reported, reaching a total of 4,977,478 tests analyzed nationwide to date.
