Davis leads the ASU after the Texas Southern

HOUSTON – KHA'Darrius Davis made three touchdown passes in the first period and Alabama State resisted Texas Southern for a 27-21 win on Saturday.

Alabama State (5-4, 4-2 South West Athletics Conference) has won eight of the last nine games against Texas Southern (0-10, 0-6).

The Hornets took a 27-7 lead at half-time, before De'Andre Johnson and Dominic Franklin made a touchdown and the Tigers scored under six with 12:27 left. The Tigers led to the Hornets 27 but Johnson was sacked by Cameron Rampersaud in fourth and eleven at six minutes from the end. The Hornets have passed the time limit.

Davis completed 14 of 26 passes for 226 yards and gave all three goals to Michael Jefferson, who finished with five catches for 102 yards. Ezra Gray ran for 154 yards in 24 races for the Hornets.

Miles 20, Tuskegee 6

TUSKEGEE – The Golden Bears spoiled the return of the Golden Tigers, limiting Tuskegee (5-5, 4-2 SIAC) to two goals.

Quarterback Ahmad Deramus of Tuskegee had 10 passes on 16 passes for 165 yards and one interception. Taurean Taylor had 12 runs for 75 yards.

NC Wesleyan 23, Huntingdon 7

Dontavion Cunningham had nine runs for 111 yards and a touchdown to lead the Hawks (6-3, 5-1 USA South).

Quarterback Michael Lambert of Huntingdon was 13-on-24 for 125 yards and two interceptions.

The Hawks play at LaGrange at noon on September 16th.

South East 54, Faulkner 27

Faulkner's quarterback Mason Blocker had 18 of 42 passes for a total of 168 yards and a touchdown with three interceptions.

Charles Blackmon had 15 runs for 105 yards.

Kavonte Younger had five catches for 87 yards and one touchdown, and Isaiah Scott added five catches for 49 yards and one point for the Eagles (3-5, 1-4 Mid-South).

The Eagles play at St. Thomas for their last regular season game of the year.
