Disney + arrives in Latin America with the promise of promoting local talent

Boosting local talent and distributing it around the world is one of the goals that Disney seeks to achieve with the arrival of its Disney + content platform in Latin America, as reported at a press conference.

“Our commitment is to bring the talent of the region to all the places where it makes sense for it to be, we are excited by the stories and talent of the region and Disney + gives us the possibility of developing much more,” Marcos Amadeo, director of Latin American operations and technology, in the virtual presentation of what the platform will be.

This effort comes after having joined various Latin artists such as the Colombian Sebastián Yatra, the Mexican Carlos Rivera, the Argentine Tini Stoessel, among others, in the production Many stories in one place to present the platform that opens in Latin America on November 17.

Amadeo assured that Pixar, Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic will be the brands that will have a home on the platform and that among the audiovisual content that can be enjoyed are films, short films, series and documentaries designed for a diverse audience.

Among the benefits that the platform offers, is access to exclusive content from its series and original productions, such as behind the scenes, interviews or films never before presented, as well as the customization of up to seven different profiles with exclusive avatars for the region.

On the local content that Disney + will offer to the Latin public, there are so far the projection of series such as Beer (2019), Violetta (2012), I’m moon (2016) o Peter Punk (2011), among others, however, Amadeo assured that plans are being developed to expand the local catalog.

The director also announced that there will be simultaneous premieres with the United States of the most anticipated original productions such as Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki Y WandaVision, all from the Marvel universe, in addition to being available the successful series The Mandalorian (2019), from the universe of Star Wars.

And from the most remembered classics like Snow White and the seven dwarves (1937) to movies like Toy Story (1995), the catalog will include 500 films from its various labels.

It will also feature iconic series from the brand such as Hannah Montana (2006), The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2005) or the series and film High School Musical.

The director also dispelled doubts about whether the yellow family of The Simpsons Fox would reach the Disney + screens and stated that it will be present, however, it will only feature some of the more than 30 seasons it has.

This platform began operating in the United States in November 2019, since then it has progressively reached more markets around the world and as of November 17 it will be available in Latin America.

Disney + is Disney’s trump card for the so-called “streaming wars”, which is how the fierce competition that currently exists in the market for digital platforms and online television is known.

The Latin American countries that this service will reach will be Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Uruguay.
