Donation from the Turkish Embassy to Mexico – Enlace de la Costa

Today the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received a donation in kind from the Turkish Embassy in Mexico as a show of solidarity in the face of the damage caused by the natural phenomena Eta and Iota, which have caused unfortunate deaths and serious damage to homes and infrastructure in the states of Chiapas, Tabasco and Veracruz.

On behalf of the Government of Mexico, the general director for Europe, Bernardo Aguilar Calvo, received the donation from the Turkish ambassador in our country, Tahsin Timur Söylemez, and the coordinator of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Sarper Çinar. The donation consists of 900 pantries with food and basic necessities that will be destined to the affected people in the coming days.

During the delivery, General Director Aguilar thanked the Government of Turkey for this show of support in the face of the difficult situation facing the Mexican southeast and reiterated that it is a reflection of the excellent relationship and cooperation between our peoples.

For his part, Ambassador Timur Söylemez said he was pleased that Turkey can help the communities that need it most in the face of these unfortunate natural phenomena, and reiterated the willingness of his government to support and continue paying for the strategic relationship between both nations.

The Government of Mexico reaffirms its commitment to serve the population affected by these natural phenomena, in coordination with state authorities, through the DN-III-E Plan and the Marine Plan, as well as with actions to support the population of various institutions.
