Donostia – “Become a climate activist!” is the motto of the campaign launched by the Donostia City Council to involve the people of Donostia in improving the energy of their homes and thus contribute to reducing consumption, spending and polluting emissions.
The Councilor for Ecology, Marisol Garmendia, presented this initiative yesterday at a press conference in the town hall, in which she warned that around 17% of greenhouse emissions in Donostia are attributed to the residential sector, due to its consumption of electricity, natural gas and other fuels.
As reported by the City Council in a statement, the campaign consists of the launch of a web page with updated information on the evolution of consumption, billing and CO2 emissions of the participating families, which will receive three personalized reports during 2021, as well as recommendations adjusted to your profile to lower your consumption while maintaining optimal comfort conditions.
“In the reduction of emissions and the fight against climate change, we all have a share of responsibility, also in our own home,” stressed Garmendia, who announced that all citizens can participate in the initiative, prior registration through the web municipal or telephone 943 483 390, until February 28.
saving The proposal is part of the project Homes San Sebastián-CO2: pro-climate families, in which a thousand people from about 300 households have participated since 2010, with savings achieved on the order of 8% on average.
Two weeks after the start of the confinement, it was detected that the homes of Donostia (with 87 monitored in the Old Town and Altza) had increased electricity consumption by 22%.
Since 2010, some 300 households have taken part in a program that has allowed them to save 8% of their consumption
