Footballer Emiliano Sala died of "head and trunk injuries" after the plane crashed in the canal.

The results of an autopsy investigation were announced in an investigation into his death, which was opened and adjourned at the Dorset Coroners Court until November 6.

An investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Department can take anywhere from six months to one year.

It comes as the family of the pilot David Ibbotson says they "just want him home" – to be raised as 150,000 pounds in two days for a new search.

David Ibbotson's wife Nora told Good Morning Britain, "We know he left – but we want him back … we just want him home."

"We can not leave him out there alone," she added.

"We feel he's out there right now, so we made the call – just for some help."

Mr Ibbotson flew Cardiff City's new signing from France to Britain on 21 January as the Piper Malibu plane disappeared across the Channel.

The 28-year-old footballer was recovered after a privately funded search of the wreck on the seabed, but Ibbotson was not found.

Danielle Ibbotson, the pilot's daughter, told the Good Morning Britain family "that they literally do not know where we can go".

She said they hoped that a diver could re-examine the wreckage, and he would start a potential search for coastal areas if their father's body washed off.

"I know it can take a long time, but I do not want it to be that way," she added.

Mr. Ibbotson's wife also said that she wanted the wreck checked again so that she could calm down.

"I know the conditions are not terrific – it's such a dangerous sea – but we know ourselves the last time we saw them," she said.

French striker Kylian Mbappe is one of the donors into the fund for a new search, Pledging of £ 27,000.

The former England and Tottenham player Gary Lineker has also given 1,000 pounds.

The fund has already reached half of its value of £ 300,000 after two days.

Nora Ibbotson also played a joke that her husband made on social media because he was "a bit rusty" in his flight.

She said, "This is just Dave, it's like going on a vacation for two or three weeks and getting in your car, you have not been driving for a few days and have been thinking of 'ooh' ,

Ibbotsons main activity was gas engineer and he flew as a hobby, but his family insisted that he had the permission to carry passengers.

His wife told Good Morning Britain about her call with him shortly before the flight.

She said, "I called him in the afternoon – half past one – he went back to the plane and just waited for the time.

"& # 39; I'll go for a walk & # 39; [he said] – It was quite a walk from where he stayed on the plane.

He says, "I'll be back late. "I said: & # 39; I leave the key out the door and I turn on the light on the porch."
