First photos of the filming of Batman in the cemetery of the Glasgow Necropolis

The filming of The Batman began in Glasgow, with new images showing the new suit of the Dark Knight.

Production arrives in the Scottish city for the new Warner Bros and DC Comics film to be released next year, with road closings running until Sunday.

The crews were placed around the Necropolis cemetery near Glasgow Cathedral and the Royal Infirmary of Glasgow, with someone in the famous suit riding a motorcycle.

However, he is thought to be a stuntman seen on Friday afternoon rather than Twilight star Robert Pattinson, who will play the double role of Bruce Wayne and Batman.

As the rehearsal progressed, the man in costume could be seen wiping the rain from his glasses as the city thought to double, while Gotham was hit by a yellow weather alert on Friday.

It comes a week after director Matt Reeves shared a first look at the seed in a tweet with the hashtag CameraTest.

Other actors to appear in the film include Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell.

Filming in Glasgow will see several closed streets including Wishart Street, Ladywell Street, Cathedral Square, Drygate and John Knox Street.
