Miami, Oct 16 (EFE News) .- Florida this Friday surpassed 16,000 deaths from covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, most of it (more than 12,000) registered since July 1 until now, according to official figures.
The Florida Department of Health reported 3,449 cases and 94 more deaths from covid-19, bringing the cumulative account since March 1 to 748,437 infections and 16,026 deaths, including 196 from non-residents.
As of today there are 2,098 people admitted to Florida hospitals for the new coronavirus and since March 1 there have been more than 46,000 hospitalized.
Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach remain the counties where the prevalence of covid-19 is highest in Florida.
Miami-Dade accumulates 177,339 cases (530 more than yesterday) and 3,520 deaths (19 more), Broward 80,443 (+331) and 1,500 (+8) and Palm Beach, 48.6746 (+178) and 1,478 (+6).
Miami-Dade is the epicenter of the disease in all of Florida, which is the third state with the most cases in the US, behind California and Texas.
It is also the second county with the most accumulated cases, behind Los Angeles, and the sixth by number of deaths.
This Thursday the United States, the country most affected by the pandemic in the world, registered the highest numbers of deaths and infections since the peak of last July.
Johns Hopkins University counted 70,334 infections more than on Wednesday and 1,148 new deaths, which put the total account at 7,974,502 confirmed cases and 217,745 deaths from the disease.
