Former Miss Newcastle Rebecca Gormley enters the Love Island villa as the last bomb

It was only a matter of time before a Geordie entered the villa on Love Island and now there is one in the shape of the former Miss Newcastle Rebecca Gormley.

Every Love Island series to date has featured a Geordie and last year we had our first Geordie winner with Amber Gill who triumphed in the final alongside former Greg O’Shea.

There was not a single Geordie in the Love Island line-up when the first winter series of the ITV2 show started last weekend, but everything will change on Monday evening when viewers will have their first correct look at Rebecca on the show after the his bomb came teased at the end of the Sunday episode.

Rebecca, 21, is a part-time model and caregiver, who won Miss Newcastle in 2018 while working in customer service at EE as well as being a part-time shooter girl.

On the way to winning the Miss Newcastle final two years ago at the city’s County Hotel, he raised £ 2,000 for the Chronicle Sunshine Fund by taking part in a series of charity events including a skydive and then competing in Miss England 2019, where he finished sixth.

Rebecca has been noticeably absent from social media in the past few weeks – always a great tribute that someone could go to Love Island! – but after rumors circulated that she was on the show on Sunday, a number of people commented on her last Instagram photo of fifteen days ago to wish her well.

Someone wrote “I hope you have fun in the villa !!!”, and another of his followers published “I can’t wait to see you in the villa!”

Speaking of what makes her the perfect Islander, Rebecca says “I’m fun, I’m strong, I’m outgoing, I’m fearless and spontaneous!” and it looks like she will be quite ruthless in the villa since, when asked how far she will go to get what she wants on Love Island, she replied “How far I have to go.”
