Gary Neville insisted that he would not be surprised if both Liverpool and Manchester City lost points in The Run In, but believes that a "compound" Liverpool is well positioned.
Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League on Friday night following a 3-1 win against Southampton in St. Mary's and Manchester City.
The city has a game in hand and will retain their Premier League title when they win their last six league games, but Neville emphasized that there may still be so many twists and turns until May 12, while Liverpool believes is that Liverpool is a completely different matter from the side that faltered at the last hurdle in the 2013/14 season.
"It would not surprise me if City lost points in two games and Liverpool lost points in two games," Neville said. "But I was never so sure that Liverpool would win a match like I did tonight.
"It's an excellent performance level by both teams this season, we have great games to see, next Sunday is huge, Crystal Palace, next Sunday, is just as tough for City as the city knows the match and the team wins Liverpool's players that they have to win against Chelsea, the legs get a bit heavier.

Liverpool against Chelsea

"If City brings points, Liverpool will hop on this pitch and we'll see it close to the end of the season.
"Liverpool is in a good moment, they look less emotional than last season as they played, and there was a certain amount of despair, a sense of hassle in the way they played [last season],
"They struggled against Southampton in the first part of the game, I thought Southampton had played really well, but then they took control of the game and control is important, domination is important, Mohamed Salah [who scored Liverpool’s second] was clinical at a crucial moment. He will have to get cold towards the end of the season.
"Liverpool are in a far better position than they were a few years ago when it came to the title, when it was a bit more desperate, a bit desperate."
