Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum says the new Premier League champions are so well trained that they can play with their eyes closed.
Dutch international Wijdaldum has revealed that Jurgen Klopp’s tactical system is based on synchronized team effort, both with and without the ball.
It is so well proven that he doesn’t even have to try to check if a teammate is in the right position.
Wijnaldum said: “Everything in our team is about movement. It is the only way to continue a high pressure game.
“Klopp tells us that nobody is responsible for a direct opponent. Everyone on the team is responsible for everyone.
“What he means is that he is asking for all positions to be covered at all times and no matter who.
“When the ball is on the other side of the field, I don’t even look at my direct opponent anymore because I know we are putting so much pressure on them that we will recover the ball in a couple of seconds anyway.
“You have to be super fit to play this way. It’s the most fantastic way to play football and it’s really fantastic to work with a manager like this. “
Wijnaldum added: “In my career I have never had to train as hard as under Klopp.
“Long hours of training, hard training. I hate pre-season anyway, it’s just running, running and running. Boring. I am not ashamed to complain. It is really difficult under Klopp.
“But once you’ve done everything you come in, what I call the happy stage.
“When you’re winning 4-1 away from Arsenal and you don’t feel a little tired! This gives us an incredible feeling of power. ”
