Government reports 1,027 new cases of Covid-19 and 112 additional deaths

The Ministry of Health reported this Monday, May 3, a total of 1,027 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, giving a cumulative 2 million 349,900 documented cases of people who have contracted coronavirus.

Reported plus 112 new deaths, with an accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic of 217,345 people died from complications of the disease.

José Luis Alomía, director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health, estimated that the epidemic at the national level is made up of 20,527 active cases that started with signs and symptoms in the last 15 days.

In the country, a nasopharyngeal sample has been taken for a PCR test from 6 million 659,184 people in public hospitals and health kiosks.

The federal health authority has documented 2 million 348,873 accumulated cases of people who acquired the disease since February 28, 2020, although it estimates that the real cases could reach 2 million 536,400 cases, of which 1 million 872,375 people have recovered from the disease.

Of the 29,152 general beds for severe Covid-19 patients, 12% (3,426) are occupied throughout the country. According to the agency, all the country’s entities have an occupancy below 30% in those kinds of spaces.

Meanwhile, of the 10,193 beds with mechanical ventilators for critical Covid-19 patients, 15% (1,579) are occupied in the country. The Secretariat reported that two entities (Chihuahua and Tabasco) present an occupancy between 30 and 49% occupancy, and the rest of the entities less than those percentages.
