The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, have confirmed to Queen Elizabeth II of England that they will no longer work as members of the British royal family, Buckingham Palace reported in a statement on Friday.
Prince Henry, grandson of Elizabeth II, and his wife had decided a year ago to withdraw from the monarchy, start a new life outside the United Kingdom and become financially independent, in what was then known as the ‘Megxit’, but this situation it was pending review in early 2021.
With this confirmation, the head of state has decided to withdraw from her grandson, sixth in the line of succession to the British throne, the honorary sponsorships that he held and that will return to the sovereign, who will distribute them to other members of the royal family.
