On the statement issued by Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace issued a statement on Friday on behalf of the queen, confirming that the couple, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have officially ended their royal duties. This statement states that “by rejecting their duties as members of the Royal Family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and tasks that come with a life of public service.”
Royal expert Omid Scobie shared a statement made by the couple’s representative rejecting Queen Elizabeth’s belief that “it is not possible” for them to serve the people while distancing themselves from the crown.
“As your work over the past year shows, andThe Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the United Kingdom and around the world, and they have offered their continued support to the organizations they have represented, regardless of their official role, ”the statement read.
“We can all live a life of service. The service is universal ”.
Despite his response, the couple will continue to be stripped of various charitable duties.
Commonwealth, military and charitable associations that will return immediately to the queen include “The Royal Marines,” “The Royal Navy,” “The Association of Commonwealth Universities,” “The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust,” among others, Scobie reports.
The couple will soon be meeting with Oprah Winfrey to discuss their experience with ‘Megxit’.
