A billionaire Hong Kong businessman ordered 30 Rolls-Royce Phantoms, the largest purchase ever of such luxury cars, to transport guests to the exclusive hotel he is building in Macau.
Stephen Hung will pay $ 20 million in a purchase that surpasses the old record of 14 Phantoms acquired by the Hong Kong Peninsula Hotel in 2006.
The price of one of these luxury cars is about $ 600,000, but many customers ask for distinctive extras that raise the price of the vehicle.
According to Rolls-Royce, two of the cars will have gold-plated interior and exterior finishes, making them the most expensive Phantom ever commissioned.
The deal was signed Tuesday at the company’s Goodwood, England factory.
Hung’s “ultra-luxurious” hotel in Macau, the Louis XIII, is planned to open in early 2016.
