Kylian Mbappe was reportedly ‘flattered’ that Jurgen Klopp called his father to register his interest in signing him.
Liverpool have been linked with a sensational move to Mbappe in recent weeks amidst Real Madrid’s claims that they are ready to do anything to sign Sadio Mane.
The French international would cost Liverpool an enormous cost of around £ 250 million, which would make the transfer unrealistic.
But if Mane were to leave, the club could, in theory, reinvest the money in Mbappe as a direct replacement for the Senegalese star.
According to Le10sport.com, Liverpool manager Klopp recently spoke with Mbappe’s father Wilfried to discuss his son’s signing for Liverpool.
The same publication now reports that Mbappe was “flattered” when his father informed him of Liverpool’s interest.
But it’s not just the finances involved that make the deal very unlikely.
According to Mbappe teammate Paris Saint-Germain Ander Herrera, the World Cup winner is happy in France and has no intention of leaving.
“Mbappe and Neymar are still at PSG and even more with the situation we are currently in,” Herrera told COPE’s Tiempo de Juego.
“I had dinner with Neymar before the quarantine and he is very involved in the project. He told me that he has never been so happy in Paris.
“The PSG project is such that both feel fulfilled in Paris.”
