Thor: love and thunder is still over two years away, but fans have already come up with theories of how Natalie Portman's Jane Foster can handle Chris Hemsworth's Mjolnir's onscreen hammer.
For those of you who may not know, there is a section called Theory Thursday on the Marvel Studios Reddit page. In it, fans publish their own theories about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the comment section. This particular theory was devoted to explaining how Natalie Portman's Jane Foster could lead Mjolnir.
As we all know, Thor's Hammer was destroyed at the beginning of Hela Thor: Ragnarok, Chris Hemsworth's character had to do the rest of the film without him before eventually discovering his own strength and self-esteem. in the Avengers: FinalChris Hemsworth's Thor took Mjolnir out of the Thor: The dark world Timeline as part of the movie's elaborate time travel storyline before dueling with him and Stormbreaker in the fight against Josh Brolin's Thanos. Chris Hemsworth's Mjolnir, however, was put back in time at the end of the film. The question then arises of how Natalie Portman's Jane Foster can use Mjolnir when it literally no longer exists in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to this theory, the spell that Odin wielded on Mjolnir was broken when he died, much like the spell that held Hela in place. Therefore, it is possible that this new Mjolnir was forged from the pieces of the old and was no longer under the spell that Odin put on the hammer in the first movie. Or Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, like Chris Hemsworth's Thor, is simply worthy and the new Mjolnir comes from another dimension:
Odin's enchantments disappear as he dies, and for that reason, Hela was released from custody. Therefore, Mjolnir's spell ("Who holds …") was lifted. In a way, that's why Hela could stop it and destroy it. The one in Endgame was still enchanted, because it was time-delayed.
If Jane in Love & Thunder needs to be worthy of the gavel, he must come from another time or another multiverse. If it's just a combination of the shards left in Norway (I suppose now in New Asgard), it does not have to be technically worthy.
What do you think of this theory? Do you think it could be that Odin's spell on Mjolnir was broken after his death? What do you think of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster with Mjolnir instead of Chris Hemsworth's Thor? Tell us your opinion in the comments below!
