How to download Apple’s new mobile operating system, the public beta release date and the new features expected

Apple is preparing to release its annual update for its iPhone operating system, with iOS 14 likely to be released in September.

However, you can get it first by signing up for one of Apple’s beta programs.

Here is everything you need to know about how to participate …

When iOS 14 beta comes out and how can I get it?

A precise date for the release of the public beta of iOS 14 has not yet been set, but it should be around July 13th.

To be eligible you must go to the Apple software beta program page and sign up: all you have to do is a valid Apple ID (eligible iCloud account).

Before downloading the beta, it is advisable to back up your phone, in case something goes wrong.

If you can’t wait until mid-July, you can get beta access even earlier.

How can I get iOS 14 beta first?

You can access iOS 14 right now by signing up for Apple’s developer program.

This gives you access to a range of beta products, but costs an annual fee of $ 99 (£ 80).

To get started, you must first go to the sign up page, which you can find here.

You will need an Apple ID and personal documentation, so you will be asked to pay the fee.

Once the phone backup is finished. So you will want to download the iOS 14 beta profile, which you can find here, on your phone.

Go to the menu icon at the top left of the screen, press “download”, scroll down to find iOS 14 beta and click “Install profile”.

Next you will have to install it manually on your phone by going to your settings. Go to Settings> General> Profile, then select the downloaded Profile (a new option that should appear) and click on the selected profile.

Now keep your settings but scroll down until the software update, which should give you the option to download iOS 14. It’s a 5 GB update, so it will take some time. Plug in your phone to make sure it doesn’t die during the update.

After the update is complete, restart your phone and you should find it with the new operating system.

It will be more customizable than ever, with widgets now featured. They can take four or eight regular tiles.

Siri has been improved and redesigned – Apple claims to know 20 times more facts than three years ago.

The messaging app now lets you block conversations at the top of the screen and added inline replies.

And there are also updates to Memoji, with 20 new hair styles and headdresses available, more age options and new sticker poses.
