Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says his government has not been involved in the arrest of a senior management of Chinese telecom giant Huawei.
Meng Wanzhou was arrested on Saturday in Vancouver on US extradition requests.
China has demanded her release and described the arrest as a human rights violation.
The charges are not yet known, but the US has investigated Huawei for possible violations of sanctions against Iran.
Huawei said it was known as "no misconduct by Ms. Meng."
She is on bail for a hearing on Friday.
In an interview with reporters in Montreal, Trudeau said his government had learned of the arrest a few days earlier, but it did not matter.
