Just under a month, then Robert Kirkman’s animated superheroes begin their Prime Video adventures. The streaming provider now has a longer trailer “Invincible” released, Kirkman’s adaptation of his comic series of the same name. It opens on Friday, March 26th with three one-hour episodes. The others will follow on a weekly basis until the season finale on April 30th.
“Invincible” tells the story of 17 year old Mark Grayson (voiced by Steven Yeun). He’s actually a pretty normal guy – with one or two exceptions. For one, his father Omni-Man (Oscar winner JK Simmons) is the most powerful superhero in the world. And then, after a normal youth, Mark begins to develop superpowers. In doing so, he notices that the father’s “legacy” may not be quite as heroic as he always thought.
The original version also features other speaking roles “Mad Men”-Veteran Jon Hamm, Jonathan Groff ( “Mindhunter”), Sandra Oh ( “Killing Eve”), Seth Rogen ( “Bad Neighbors”), Gillian Jacobs ( “Community”), Mark Hamill ( “Star Wars”), Walton Goggins ( “Justified”), Jason Mantzoukas ( “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), Mae Whitman ( “Good Girls”), Chris Diamantopoulos ( “Silicon Valley”) und Kevin Michael Richardson ( “The Simpsons”) to hear.
“The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman, who is executive producer here, also co-wrote the original Skybound / Image Comics comic with Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, on which “Invincible” is based. The series ended in February 2018 after 15 years. The adaptation is produced by Skybound. After his success with Prime Video is hoping for another big hit for “The Boys”.
