At 10:00 PM EST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Iota was located near latitude 12.7 north, longitude 77.0 west. Storm Iota is moving west near 5 mph (7 km / h).
Iota will move across the southwestern Caribbean Sea tonight and Sunday, pass near or over Providencia Island on Monday, and approach the coasts of Nicaragua and northeast Honduras on Monday night.
Maximum sustained winds are near 70 mph (110 km / h) with higher gusts. Rapid strengthening is expected over the next few hours and Iota is forecast to be a major hurricane as it approaches Central America.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km) from the center.
The estimated minimum central pressure is 990 mb (29.24 inches).
