Cristiano Ronaldo was replaced for the second game in a row, as successor Paulo Dybala scored the winning goal against AC Milan, bringing Juventus back to the top of Serie A.
Coach Maurizio Sarri changed in the 55th minute. Dybalas goal brought Juve over Inter Milan.
The 34-year-old Ronaldo has been replaced as many times in two games as in the previous season.
Juve fought temporarily with Wojciech Szczesny, who made several good saves.
Dybala replaced Ronaldo with eight minutes left in Juve's 2-1 win over Lokomotiv Moscow in the Champions League last Wednesday.
Szczesny was busy and had to make important stops to meet Milans Krzysztof Piatek, Lucas Paqueta and Theo Hernandez.
Gonzalo Higuain narrowly approached Juve and Dybala could have doubled his record late in the game.
Juve remain unbeaten and are one point ahead of Inter, while Milan is in 14th place.
