117 days after his last game, the Argentine forward started the victory over Arsenal.
After almost four months, Sergio Aguero stepped on a soccer field again. Pep Guardiola put him in the starting lineup in what ended up being a 1-0 victory over Arsenal, on matchday 5 of the Premier League. The Argentine recovered from the injury to the menisci in his right knee and was back from the start after 117 days.
The last time had been on June 22 in the duel against Burnley, the day in which Kun was seriously injured. Since then, the ex-Independiente underwent surgery, underwent rehabilitation and this week added minutes in a game against City’s second team.
It was precisely in that duel that Guardiola saw him in full condition and that is why he made the decision that he is from the first minute against the Gunners in one of the most outstanding duels of the date. At an acceptable level, Agüero completed just over an hour of play and was replaced at 65 ‘by lkay Gündogan, giving a funny moment by thanking the virtual applause.

“We are incredibly happy for the return of Agüero, for him and for us”, Guardiola said, post-match, at a press conference. Along the same lines, he added: “It has been four months. He is not in the best condition yet, but he played 60 minutes. On Wednesday we have another key game and it is important to have it. We need their goals. ”
The goal of the historic City scorer will be to recover the rhythm and his best football form, with the aim of settling again in Guardiola’s first team and, of course, with the illusion of being called up again by Lionel Scaloni, in November, to Qualifying matches of the Argentine National Team.
